BWB Partners Divests Qubiqa Logistics To Technology Group Körber
13. July 2016
BWB Partners and all other shareholders in Qubiqa has yesterday July 12 completed its sale of subsidiary Qubiqa Logistics to the international technology group Körber with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. Hereafter, Qubiqa Logistics becomes an integral part of Körbers’ Business Area Logistics Systems.
The sale of Qubiqa Logistics follows a competitive process involving a number of potential buyers.
“On behalf of BWB Partners and Qubiqa Logistics’ employees, management and customers, we are very pleased, we have found a new dedicated and well reputed long term owner, who strongly believes in the company and its products. Qubiqa Logistics has been an excellent investment for BWB Partners, and the company’s valuation is a strong testimony to the successful efforts of management and employees,” says Esben Bay Jørgensen, Partner and Co-Founder of BWB Partners.
“We are delighted to welcome the Qubiqa Logistics team to our Group”, says Stephan Seifert, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Körber AG. “The company strengthens our long-term course towards internationalization and growth.”
“Together with Qubiqa Logistics, we will continue to pursue our growth strategy and expand our market presence in the Scandinavian region”, says Hubert Kloß, CEO of the Business Area Logistics Systems.
“The range available from Qubiqa Logistics will moreover enable us to reinforce our competitiveness and offer our customers an even more attractive portfolio of products and services.”
The financial results have improved significantly over the past five years during which the company has more than doubled its revenue and delivered solid profitability.
“The strong development is due to good customer relationships, the dedicated effort of our skilled employees and a unique product in the form of a patented technology – Layer Picker®. The business can now grow further as part of a strong international technology group with a global reach,” says Jacob Libach Nielsen, director of Qubiqa Logistics.
The current Qubiqa Logistics was established in 2008, when BWB Partners bought and merged Univeyor, QLS and Jokan Service, and built a company with full focus on producing and developing logistics solutions to improve the efficiency of warehouse and distribution facilities. The company’s patented robot technology Layer Picker® solutions have become a global market-leading success. In 2010 BWB Partners bought Seelen, and the companies merged under the name Qubiqa. In 2011, Axel Manøe Jepsen was appointed CEO of Qubiqa, and a new business strategy was implemented. Part of the production now takes place in Qubiqa Poland, which will continue to be part of Qubiqa Automation.
BWB Partners, senior executives and other shareholders, will still own the Qubiqa Group, including Qubiqa Automation.
“We’ve been through a rapid development over the past five years in which there has been significant organic growth in both revenue and earnings. The divestment of Qubiqa Logistics to a leading global player is testimony to the strength of Qubiqa. We look forward to further developing Qubiqa Automation in the coming years,” says Axel Manøe Jepsen, CEO, Qubiqa.
The sellers have been advised by Danske Bank Corporate Finance, AT Kearney, LETT and Deloitte.
